Community Engagement / Group Day Services
- Community-based treatment enables people to maintain family relationships, friendships and jobs while receiving treatment, which facilitates early treatment and rehabilitation. This type of care is also associated with continuity of care, greater users’ satisfaction, increased adherence to treatment, better protection of human rights, and prevention of stigma. "

- This program admission is the same as of Day support Services with the exception that the group ratio is 1:3. All other termination and discharge from the program is the same.
Two types of day services offered
- Community Engagement: Fosters an individual's ability to acquire, retain or improve skills necessary to building positive social behavior, interpersonal competence, greater independence, employ-ability and personal choice. This program enables the individual to access typical activities in community life enjoyed by the general population such as education or training, retirement and volunteer activities. This program is provided in groups with no more than a 1:3 staff-to-individual ratio.
- Group Day Services: Provides opportunities for peer interactions, community integration, career planning and enhancement of social networks. Supports may be provided to ensure individual health and safety. These services are provided in groups with no more than a 1:7 staff-to-individual ratio.
Who is eligible for the Day Services Program?
The target population for Day Services is individuals ages 18 and older who have a diagnosis of intellectual disability, and no longer attend public education. Program participants must be able to maintain their personal health and safety, respect the property of others and benefit from services within an average of a 1:7 staff to participant ratio. Program participants must maintain an average weekly attendance of three days for continued program admission.

- Functional training in self, social, and environmental awareness skills
- Functional training in sensory stimulation and gross and fine motor skills
- Functional training in communication and personal care
- Functional training in the use of community resources, community safety, appropriate peer interactions, and social skills
- Functional training in learning and problem-solving skills
- Functional training in adapting behavior to social and community settings
- Assistance with personal care and use of community resources
- Supervision to ensure the individual's health and safety
- Staff coverage for transportation of the individual between training and service activity sites
- Opportunities to use functional skills in community settings
What are the fees/funding for the Day Services program?
Individuals interested in participating in community engagement program must have a community living waiver services.
